For surf boards, the following precautions must be taken: fins should always be removed, or, if they cannot be removed, should be firmly packed with polystyrene foam. both nose and tail should have bubble-wrap or neoprene foam attached for protection.. Just found out - and we fly out this morning - that jeststar from darwin to denpasar have a limit to 1.9m long for surfboards. my sons "shortboards" are about 1.9m and 2m packed in a longboard bag that he says is about 2.2m long..
