Beauty of this stuff for a houseboat is this: 1. weight is not an issue for a houseboat and easily compensated for by extra pontoon if required - depends on your overall size. 2. no rot, no corrosion 3. no worries about "parking" it on rocks or rough ground. 4.. Weight tonnage terms the word "ton" comes from the english "tun" meaning cask or barrel. to the english, it meant a wine barrel with a capacity of about 252 gallons.. Well phillip, my neighbor had a very similar houseboat and it weighed @ 11-12,000 pounds. it was a 33 foot nautaline houseboat, however a 1970, which shouldn't make a difference. lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their houseboat trailer and weight experiences..
Dry weight – the amount the boat weighs with an empty gas tank. the weight with furniture and passengers aboard. the boat and trailer’s weight combined. these things are useful to know for a few reasons. for starters, the dry weight, as well as your boat and trailer’s weight combined, are both good to know when towing your boat.. The boat will move a small distance away from the dock. measure this distance. measure the distance your friend walked down the boat. the distance your friend walked (over the bottom, so subtract the distance the boat moves,) times his or her weight equals the distance the boat moved times its weight.. I have a 1972 gibson houseboat 36' and gibson told me mine was about 10,000 dry weight...give or take a few if it has a fly bridge!.
