Note that personal watercraft do not have a capacity plate. for p-w-c’s, always follow the recommended capacity in the owner’s manual and on the manufacturer’s warning decal. finally, the capacity plate will also indicate the maximum engine power for your boat, given in horsepower.. If your boat does not have a capacity plate, you will need to estimate the maximum number of people the boat can carry safely. how can you calculate the maximum number of people for boats less than 20 ft. in length?. Look for a capacity plate near the operator's position or on the transom of the boat. this plate indicates the maximum weight capacity and/or the maximum number of people that the boat can carry safely in good weather..

Boat capacity vs available seating and the the boat owner does not have any maximum weight, persons, or horsepower capacity as displayed on the manufacturer's capacity plate. to find the law in your state go to the national association of state boating law. The yellow "maximum capacities" label affixed to the helm of your boat will specify the maximum number of people or the maximum weight your boat can carry. since 1972, the capacity label has been a requirement for all mono-hull boats under 20 feet.. • look for a capacity plate near the operator's position or on the transom of the boat. this plate indicates the maximum weight capacity and/or the maximum number of people that the boat can carry safely in good weather. •you should not exceed either the stated maximum weight capacity or the maximum number of people..
